An alkaline water system is a water filtration and ionization system designed to produce alkaline water, which has a higher pH level than regular drinking water. The pH of alkaline water typically ranges between 8 and 9.5, compared to the neutral pH of 7 found in standard tap water..
A 5-stage reverse osmosis (RO) system works by purifying water through a series of filtration stages. Each stage removes specific contaminants, ensuring clean and safe drinking water.
The first stage of the system is the Sediment Pre-Filter, which removes large particles such as dirt, sand, rust, and silt. Water passes through a sediment filter with pores 5 microns or smaller, protecting the more delicate filters in later stages.
The second stage is the Carbon Pre-Filter, which uses an activated carbon block to remove chlorine, chloramines, and other chemicals that can damage the RO membrane. This process also absorbs chemicals, foul tastes, and odors, enhancing the water's quality before it reaches the membrane.
The third stage features another Carbon Pre-Filter, this time using granular activated carbon for additional chemical removal to further safeguard the RO membrane. It traps residual chlorine, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other contaminants that might have been missed in the second stage. In the fourth stage, the Reverse Osmosis Membrane acts as the core of the system, removing up to 99% of dissolved solids and contaminants by forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane with 0.0001-micron pores.
Finally, the fifth stage is the Post Carbon Filter, also known as the Polishing Filter, which provides a final polish to improve the taste and odor of the water. This last carbon filter ensures any remaining tastes or smells are eliminated before the purified water reaches your faucet.
A water softener is a device that removes minerals like calcium and magnesium from hard
water, which are responsible for water hardness. This process is called ion exchange.
